Description

Tanzania is renowned for its Arabica coffee, cultivated across highland regions where volcanic soils, ample rainfall, and cooler climates create ideal conditions. The country produces a range of Arabica styles, with northern highlands around Arusha and southern highlands in Mbeya and Mbinga among the most prominent growing areas. Tanzanian coffee is classified by bean size, with “AA” denoting the largest and most uniform beans. Situated at high elevation, the area produces between 6,000 and 14,000 metric tonnes of Arabica green beans annually. Smallholder farmers supply cherries to local Coffee Processing Units, supported by initiatives aimed at improving quality and farmer income through better post-harvest practices. Sourced under the PACT Standard through our supplier, this lot benefits from a third-party verified framework promoting inclusive growth, climate-smart ecosystem management, and community empowerment across coffee value chains. Through a three-year cycle of support (Plant Grow Nurture). smallholders gain access to training, equipment, and traceability systems, strengthening both producer livelihoods and environmental resilience.
