Our Story
What started as a small espresso bar has grown into a beloved local hub, known for its rich aroma of freshly roasted beans and the unmistakable hum of a La San Marco manual espresso machine — one of the few of its kind in New Zealand.
Founded by Kevin and Akiko Hayter, The Bean was built on a love for authentic coffee and community spirit. Over the years, we’ve stayed true to our roots: roasting on-site, handcrafting every shot, and offering a menu full of hearty, homemade options for every kind of appetite.
